They didn't slouch around in sweats and t-shirts

People today might tend to chuckle at these housewives, but when you think about it, housewives back in the 40s, 50s, and 60s didn't usually slouch around in a pair of sweats and a t-shirt, even when they were doing heavy house-cleaning projects.
A homemaker would usually wear a "house dress" and an apron, or a pair of capris with a blouse, and often she tied her hair up with a scarf while she was cleaning, but she didn't dress in a careless or grungy manner.
How about us? Do we slap on any ol' thing as we head into the day, or do we take the time to make ourselves presentable, even if we don't wear the "uniform" of the housewife of the 1950s?

  1. I love it that they tried to look nice even with the hard work they had to do. It's hard finding the balance of an outfit that's nice but not *too* nice. You know, durable but cute. It's interesting how one works harder and has more energy when confident about how she looks.

Thank you for visiting. Enjoy your day!
